Reference Values

The reference value feature lets you refer to a Widget component, such as a column, in a formula. This feature is useful if you want to use the results of a formula in one component in another component to create a formula. For instance, you can use the SUM function in one component to summarize revenue over the past 12 months and then use that formula to compare performance to the previous year in a second component (see image below). By using the reference values option, you can insert that component into the formula without having to recreate it or copy and paste it.

Using reference values

To use a reference value, click on the REF button and select the component you want to use in the formula. This feature can be useful when used in conjunction with the hidden columns option associated with the table component.
