Adding a Voice Message

There are two ways to create a voice message. One is to record the message yourself directly over the phone, the other is to upload a pre-recorded .WAV File.

Recording Your Own Message

Click the Add Voice Message link, which will take you to the voice message creation screen.

To record your own message, ignore the option to upload a .WAV file, and simply type out the script for your message in the window. Read through it several times to make sure it sounds the way you want it. When you’re ready, click the Create Button. The system will then save the script, and immediately patch the dialer system to you to have you record the message.

Please note that the message recording system will look for you at the main telephone number you have specified in your personal information which we reviewed earlier in this section. If you are not near the phone number listed in your personal information, you’ll want to go in and change the number to one at your location.

When the phone rings, pick it up and listen to the options.

Option 1 will let you listen to the existing message recording (if there isn’t one, it will simply be a second of dead air).

Option 2 let’s you record your new message. As soon as you press 2, you’ll hear a beep, and you’re now live! Record your message into the hand set just as it appears in the script. When finished, press the pound key (#), and you’ll be sent back to the main message loop, where you can listen to the recording to make sure it sounds the way you want it to, or record it a second time.

Once recorded, it is immediately available to be sent.

Adding a .WAV File

To add a .WAV file, you must first make sure it is recorded with the proper specifications. .WAV files must be encoded as:

  • 16-bit sample size
  • 1 Channel (Mono)
  • 8 khz sample rate
  • PCM codec
  • Size of file can't be larger than 2MB

Microsoft© Windows™ users can open any .WAV file using the Windows Sound Recorder utility, and re-save the file using the proper format.

Once saved, click the Browse button on the voice message creation window, and find the saved file. You can choose to type out the script for the message for reference, but it is not required. Once finished, click Save to post the file.
