Update Do Not Call Phone Numbers

Like its cousin the CSV Account Update tool, this function takes a spreadsheet of information and marks matching entries to a Do Not Contact status. Some people are confused by the terminology of this tool, so let’s give brief explanation about its actual function.

This tool does not, repeat, NOT go out to the Web and check to see if numbers in your InsideSales database should be marked do not contact. The tool works under the assumption that you have already compiled a spreadsheet of numbers that are already in your database. When the system finds the matching number in your spreadsheet, it will mark the file to Do Not Contact. These lists are usually either purchased from providers, or downloaded from the U.S. government Web site.

Like the other two data input features, we first have to browse our computer and find the needed spreadsheet file. Notice too that you can specify some specific criteria to be excluded when the DNC changes are made. Check the national Do Not Call Web legal requirements for verification, but in many cases you do not have mark files to DNC if you have done business with them within a certain period of time in the past, they have made an information request for goods or services, or you have made contact with them recently and they did not request to stop receiving calls. Again, double check the requirements for your business and location.

The CSV spreadsheet should only contain a single column with the complete phone numbers to be processed; the area code and phone number should not be split into two columns. If they are, you will need to recombine them before running the process.
